Grants Strategy
In formulating its grant-making policy, USRF makes the following assumptions about the current US-Russia relationship and the general approach of the Russian government to economic development:
- The Russian government will remain committed to economic development and especially to “growing” small and medium size businesses. This will involve support for business education and opportunities for young entrepreneurs and business professionals to gain needed skills.
- Of growing importance to Russia’s long-term economic success is the need to build a robust, diversified economy that draws on a growing base of technologically skilled and talented Russian entrepreneurs.
- The Russian government remains deeply committed to developing a small number of world-class universities and funding research on new technologies and their realization in the marketplace. These institutions will likely seek partnerships with leading US universities.
- The Russian government may be open to new forms of cooperation with the United States and USRF is well positioned to play a key role.
